Pretty simplistic question. If you're talking about 100% of either one, neither would work. I favor free markets but understand that there has to be a small amount of gov't intervention for things to run smoothly.

Socialism and other forms of society where the gov't is entrusted with the wealth isn't the best solution. You have to ask who or what makes up the government. The answer is people just like you and me. Do you trust that they can handle your money better than you can? I don't. I think that I can make the best decisions with the money I have. I can send my kids to the best schools, I can buy the best car and I can donate to the charities that I choose.

With socialism, the tax rates are higher and instead of me choosing what school to send my kids to, the gov't chooses that for me. Instead of me deciding which car companies provide the best products, the gov't offerce subsidies and incentives and decides which technologies are the best.

Ideally capatalism would work since the power is in the market. However Communism the power is with the individual, or a small number of individuals that all have grat power. This power will ultimately corrupt even the most kind person.

There's no 1 way to go. It's about taking ideas from both sides and seeing which one would work the best without infringing on people's rights.

No real country ever exemplified either, but we all seem to agree that somewhere between Capitalism and Socialism (where the government owns all major means of production) is the way to go.

I lean towards the Capitalist side, but I sure wish the government would take back the Post Office.
