Default Sort of a poll about hobbies...

Liz* got me thinking.

I'd like to know what sort of scientific things you all do on your own outside of work and school in a hands-on sort of way right now. This would include personal hobbies that are science related, or a continuation of school work or not, but I'm talking about totally on your own time and due to your own inspiration. (or with a friend)

For me that would be Electronics. While my interests include Green Fuel Chemisrty and Gardening, The Chemistry is all research for me right now, no test tubes or beakers yet, and the Gardening has been a total failure, so I just had to stop for a while.

My hobbies are the websites I run. For those that don't know, I run this site and then I rub my science blog SciFreak.com. I just love science in general.

Default I Knit

It is rather mathematical and very relaxing. Did you know that there is a pattern for a double helix scarf on the web? Also there are klein bottles, pi shawls, moebius rings, and don't even get me started on the Fibonacci sequences.

I knit normal things too. :P

no, no. You don't need time on your hands. Just needles and yarn. LOL You may want to check the web. There are sites that have videos on how to knit.

I usually teach a class or two in the summer. This summer, however, I am writing my thesis. I suppose i should be happy that I am graduating with an MA, but I'd rather be lazy and enjoy the time off.

I hear that knitting is a very relaxing thing. Personally, I don't know if I would enjoy the calmness of knitting, but others do enjoy it.

Not exactly 'things' I do, but I've been watching documentaries and video lectures on science (mostly physics) lately. Pretty enjoyable.
