LOL I didn't realize all my answers were negative...sorry I don't mean anything by it just wondering....I think I am slightly pesamistic by nature. If I say something that offends or upsets I apologize...just my normal tone sorry lol.

If it were possible to travel to the past, then that becomes YOUR future......returning to the present time would have this component added.

Say you spent ten years in the past. This has to affect your physics, so you would not simply become ageless and would die in a similar range. It would not be a way to become 'timeless'.

Jumping from time to time is still limited by how long you do it for "in cumulation". Relativity is not going to take the day off.

Hmmm… I like the time periscope idea and think that may one day be possible. But that is not really time travel. I believe that time is another property of matter and only matter with the same time stamp can interact together. Any matter (or time traveler) with a different time stamp would be invisible or “out of phase” with everything from a different time. A time traveler could not be seen or change anything in a different time. Many questions come to mind though. What would a time traveler stand on? He would go through the earth and maybe gravity would not affect him. What would he breathe? Oxygen from a different time could not interact with his/her lungs so he’d have to bring his own supply. What about light? Could his eyes see light of a different time stamp? Maybe the periscope is the best way to go. I’d hate to think that there were time travelers all around us that we couldn’t see.

I don't think it would be possible to travel in the past. I don't think there is any substantial scientific theory that can postulate this.

Traveling into the future is a whole "nother" matter.

I'm reminded of a story predicting the first spacecraft capable of traveling at or near the speed of light. The flight is supposed to travel the universe for 50 years before returning, so they put a young boy on the flight so they can live for his return. 50 years later the flight returns and everyone gathers in anticipation to welcome the fully grown man now, they are amazed when the door flings open and out comes a little boy as fresh as he was when he left.

I think time travel in ones own time from is impossible. The possibility for paradox is too great. Now if parallel universes existed, the idea that every major decision causes another parallel universe, it might be possible to travel back into a different time line. There are always stories, not always legitimate ones, that might account for time travelers. But I will point out Edgar Allen Poe's butterfly theory that someone mentioned earlier. The simple act of killing a butterfly could alter time irreversibly.

What stories are there? I know there has been much archeological speculation with images from the egyptians and mayans, but anything since recorded history?

I've heard the time traveller theory to explain the unexplained UFO sightings in historic times. Kind of like the UFO that was supposedly seen at Obama's inauguration. Have you seen the Youtube videos on this? Pretty mindblowing... I don't know, maybe it's a hoax, but if not?

Dulce, rumors and speculation, sadly. There are a number of stories from everywhere from the African tribe with too much info on the Dog Star to the artwork best viewed from the sky. There are a lot of stories of possible "aliens" but no proof. Proof is hard to come by.

I myself since the year of 1962 have been compelled through time 47 years into the future. You yoursel can also travel into the future, just wait a minute. I can prove it.

who would have figured that out?

Let's consider Einstein's marble universe. There's no changing it. Change is the dimension called time. Yes, you can go back in time; it won't change the future you came from.
But Einstein failed to deal with Schroedinger's Cat. That means that that time is not one dimension but at least two. The observer cannot determine the outcome of the experiment but only which observer he is.
In short, you can go back in time, but it won't change anything. Evry present has multiple pasts and multiple futures. Causality is not what you think it is.
