Cool contracting universe

Since the universe is expanding, and the furtherest galaxies we can see are billions of light years away, how long would it be before we discovered that in it's outer reaches the universe had begun to contract?

Default Re: contracting universe

One theory holds that the dimension of time is tied to the expansion of the universe, and that when the expansions is slowed time itself will slow down as well. When the universe contracts time will actually begin to reverse.

How this would effect life in our position in a way we can comprehend I do not know. But the timeframes involved are probably well beyond our numerical understanding.

I don't believe the universe will contract,I think it's rotational like all other groups of matter.
