One of the few blogs I read is written by a
venture capitalist in New York City. He gave a talk recently at Google on "disruption". Here's Google's announcement:

Fred will be talking about "disruptive industries". Media/entertainment has taken the brunt of the disruptive force of the internet and internet technology but that’s just the start. What industries are next? Energy, education, consumer finance, and health care all seem ripe. What are those industries going to look like in 20 years, 40 years, 60 years?

I've been thinking about the topic for a few days and wondering myself about what industries are going to see big change in my lifetime and what the future is going to look like.
E.g., I think soon we'll be able to see a detailed breakdown of our home energy consumption by individual appliance. See Google PowerMeter.
What kind of new technologies do you see emerging (realistically) in the next 20, 40, 60 years and how will they affect existing technologies and industries?
