Default space travel

This has already been talked about in several fashions- movies, books, discussion forums like this- but some of the ideas may not have had as much simple collaboration as this. I believe we can create an "internet" of stations in the universe to network space travel for humans. My idea or plan would be radical in some senses and elementary in others. I believe, sort of like the movie Titan A.E., that we can create multiple earths. What we need is three. With three earths, we triangulate a position in space. Like avalanche seekers would use to help define their position better, we would set up three earths in a triangular formation and mark our position in space as solidly as we could. In the middle of this triangle would be a random power source. It would be in a spherical shape and be supplied with recyclable elements of the earth. At the same time, this power source would serve as a comlink, a communications device with other networked 3- earth stations plotted around space, used to send and receive signalled transmissions holding pertinent information. It would also serve as ,( and I know this is radical), a teletransportation device utilizing such known capabilities as black holes, to send our spacecrafts and future missions of networking and travel to other regions of space. We would use stem cell research to develop prototypes of organisms that could potentially sustain and withold the incredible forces that we currently surmise is contained within the vaccuuming power of black holes. It would basically be a safe black hole. What kind of technology could we use to feed power into to these spheres from what we have on earth? What sort of devices could we make- while set up just above the stratosphere in space could we develop to that could create this power source and also make it on/off ready and interchangeable into a psuedo black hole when we needed to use the center of our network for teletransportation? I know, some wild and crazy thinking! Perhaps, also just wishful and destitute for some attention. But I had to get it off my chest and out of my brain. I am tired of people fighting for something as inane as invisible gods, or "my territory" and " your territory." I think it's time to look past this and find the truth. We need to travel as far as we can, and as safely as we can. For once we will be working as a team with one common goal, jobs will be plentiful, the human race revived, and the direction will be forward. Please send responses and critiques. I would like to hear them. Thanks.

I think few people will be interested not because it's a bad idea, but because people want to see results within their own lifetimes. Travel to Mars is "the big thing" at the moment because it could conceivably happen within our lifetimes. (Honestly, with the way things are going I'd be extremely surprised if it really happened by 2020, but maybe we'll get our act together within my lifetime.) Engineering entire organisms is going to take a while, because we're still figuring out the genetics of existing organisms. Then we'd have to figure out how to engineer (or identify and terraform) such large-scale structures as planets. Then figure out the teletransportation you speak of, which is all very speculative.

If I were you, I would write science fiction books about your ideas, and maybe future generations would be inspired to try and carry them out.

I think space travel would be amazing. I don't know if I'd go, at the beginning, I bet prices are going to be too high for anyone except the extremly rich (like Lance Bass) to go. But in the future when the technology is proven and when the price comes down A LOT, I might consider it.

Thanks for the response Science Girl. That was very honest, in depth, and therapeutic to this wandering mind of mine. I like how you commented on each facet of my idea. Wow, you're right! There sure would be a great deal of time involved and radical constructions of such systems- not to mention the understatement of how far off we would be towards obtaining the power of a black hole. And you're right, we, the people living here on earth, at this time, should probably be a little more concerned of what we can accomplish in this lifetime- our own that is. Great feedback! Thank you very much.

I also like how you suggested that I write science fiction material towards the possibility that future generations may take an interest to such ventures, as technology may be more available in those times to come. Thanks, I just might!

humtrvl3, if you do write those science fiction stories based on your ideas please let me know so I can read them! And you never know what will be accomplished within your lifetime... maybe the advances will come faster than I predict.
